On Monday, we will choose a classroom goal that we will work on over the next few weeks. The Lightning Monsters (our class name) will decide on a goal and work towards successfully completing this challenge together. I wanted to remind you that tomorrow is picture day. If you would like to order pictures, please be sure to send the order form in tomorrow morning. We will have our pictures taken at 8:50. If you need another one, send me a quick email and I will get it to you today. We will be having our annual open house this Thursday from 6:30 – 7:30. I hope you can attend! Please remember to send in your child’s ingredient list for new snacks. If there is no list, I am providing a snack and asking them to eat it at lunch. Thank you for your support! Have a great week.

Thank you for subscribing to the classroom blog! My goal will be to add a post weekly/biweekly to keep you up to date on all of the amazing things we are doing here in room 193. Please feel free to ask a question or make a comment . later in the year, students will be creating their own blogs to share. This is new for me and I am excited to try it for the first time with students.

We have had a great first two weeks together. We have been working on becoming a classroom community of learners and have been learning our new schedule and routines. On Monday,  we will start our Everyday Math curriculum as well as our Colchester unit in Social Studies. We will also start our word study (spelling program). Students have been building stamina in reading and have begun to write in their writer’s notebooks. They are really excited to share these with you at open house on September 19th.

I’d like to thank all of you for encouraging your child to read at home. Reading sheets are in their planner today and should be filled out daily by students. Please send it in daily so that I can have a conversation with them about their  home reading . They need to be signed by you at the end of the week and turned in on Friday morning. We will have one more week of reading and then additional assignments will be added.
