WCAX TONIGHT at 6!

HI families! I’m writing this blog post from the side of the road so that hopefully you all  will be able to see the broadcast this evening. WCAX just called as I was driving home to tell me that we will be on the 6 o’clock news tonight. I hope to be home in time to see it and possibly share with the class. Have a great night.

Exciting NEWS!!

I wanted to be sure that families knew to look in the Colchester Sun tomorrow for an article about UNICEF. The kids did a great job with this and I want to make sure we celebrate their hard work.  Also, WCAX was in our room today interviewing kiddos and myself about cursive (which we started this week). They told me that they would let me know which night it would be on, but I haven’t heard from them yet. I will try to send a blog post as soon as I hear, but you may want to watch this week in case they forget to call. Have a wonderful week and I will see  you next week for conferences. Reminders will be in your child’s Friday folder.

The Importance of Parent Conferences

The post below was shared by the district to help parents prepare for conferences.

Why Are Parent-Teacher Conferences Important?

by CSD Spotlight

Parent-teacher conferences are coming up!

Parent-teacher conferences are a really important opportunity for parents and teachers to forge partnerships in students’ education. They help to foster positive, ongoing communication with all stakeholders in our students’ academic experience, and research has repeatedly demonstrated that, when parents and community members are actively engaged with students’ education, the students reap significant benefits.

To get the most benefit from their conferences, we encourage parents to:

  • write down in advance any questions or concerns that they may have;
  • consider developing a plan with the teacher to facilitate the student’s learning; and
  • feel free to take notes.

Please take some time to think of any questions or concerns that you may have. You can email them to me or send in a note. This way, I can come to the conference prepared to answer all of your questions. I will be sending reminders this week. If you have not signed up, please call the school ASAP. Thanks!

Parent Conferences and UNICEF

This is just a friendly reminder to please sign up for parent conferences. You can sign up online by going to the MBS homepage and following the link at the bottom of the page. If you have any trouble, please call the school at 264-5900 and speak to Mrs. Brigante. I look forward to meeting with all of you on November 25th or 26th.

Our class (and school) did a wonderful job trick or treating for UNICEF! The students gave a presentation and taught  all 21 classes about UNICEF, made posters and helped organize all of the donations. Our class raised $129.00 and Malletts Bay School raised 1,257.04. I am so proud of all their hard work!
