Before Break

The third grade students have been working very hard these past couple of weeks and they deserve a much need break! We have continued learning strategies around addition and subtraction in math and will move onto multiplication after the break. We have talked about themes of different books and have learned more about what it means to accept others even if they are different than you. The students began their informational writing unit and we have chosen topics that we are experts at and have begun to think of facts that we know about our topics. Ask your child what topic they could teach you about! We wrapped up our solar system unit today and the third grades created a model of a planet in groups. Take a look at their hard work!

Reports cards were sent home today. If you have any questions about the SBAC piece, please feel free to contact the office or myself for more information. I will not be holding parents conferences on Monday and Tuesday as Mrs. Schroeder already had them with families before she left.

First week with Ms. McNally!

This week flew by! I was so impressed with the students and how well they are doing with the transition between Mrs. Schroeder and I. This week we learned about theme, setting, and plot within a story while reading a few different books by Kevin Henkes. Students were able to have discussions to figure out the themes of books and were able to talk about connects they saw between the books that we read. Students also started to explore space this week and have learned about a few planets within our solar system. They created their own mnemonic to help remember the planets in order. Ask your child to tell you theirs! We started unit three in math and will continue working on new math skills next week.  The students took their first SBAC test on Wednesday which Mrs. Blake helped administrator. Thank you Mrs. Blake! The students did an amazing job and ended up earning a Money Maker for their hard work! I sent home a little note with your child on Tuesday with my contact info. If they misplaced it, please feel free to contact me throughout my duration here via email at mcnallyandersonk@csdvt.org. Looking forward to another wonderful week next week!

Room 193 Updates

Our Reader’s theater performances on Friday were a huge success! Thank you all for coming to watch and for providing snacks for this fun afternoon. Unfortunately, the videos didn’t work. 20151103-155912.jpg20151103-170848.jpg

The kids did a great job with UNICEF! Typically we would organize and count the money when it comes in, but Mrs. Benay will take care of that for us this year. Thanks for your support!

Surgery went well! I’m in a bit of pain, but I’m resting a ton and my mom is here to take care of me. Ms. McNally said the first few days have went really well and I’m thrilled to hear that! Keep up the great work Money Makers!
