Touching Base

Wow! Today the student’s presented their Native American slideshow to the other third grade classes. I was so impressed with all of the classes! I am sending home a copy of the slideshow for your child to show you. Have them teach you some facts about the Abenaki and Iroquois tribes!

Mrs. Benay emailed families last night in terms of my last day and Mrs. Schroeder’s return :). We are hoping that she can come back next week for some half days and then begin easing into full days. That being said, my last day will be next Friday, January 29th. I told the students about this today. I am planning on having a little celebration for all of their hard work while I was here, as well as a goodbye celebration on Friday afternoon. I’m not going to ask for any food donations as we still have things left over from our holiday celebration! Thank you for all of your support during my time here. I am so happy I was given this opportunity to teach your children, they taught me so much!

Please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns.

Cheers!

Ms. McNally

Checking in

I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing holiday break! I am sending home a letter from Mrs. Schroeder on Friday, so please ask your child about it. I also wanted to let everyone know that I will be out all of next week. I had a previously planned vacation and we weren’t sure if Mrs. Schroeder would be back or not at that time. The students will be in good hands with the substitute for those days. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

The students had an amazing time at the Potlatch right before break. We also watched the movie Matilda since we had read it for read aloud.

Now, we are back at it! In math we started working on geometry and measurement and the students have begun to use rulers to measure different objects. We are continuing to work on cause and effect and sequencing within our reading as well. The students have been working hard to develop skills around writing informational pieces. I’m so happy with all of their hard work!
