Last week we had a visit from Hugh, a UVM neurologist. He told us about how our brain works to store our memories and send messages throughout our body. Students also learned that when the brain is stressed it has trouble learning or remembering information, but when the brain is trying something new or exercising it becomes more stimulated and memories are made. Hugh told students about a study he is currently working on to follow the brain development of older elementary students. This study is over the course of ten years and if your student is interested they would get a picture of their brain with UVM’s MRI device. Please let us know if you have any further questions and be sure to ask your student what they learned from Hugh!
