We ventured outside to the amazing new outdoor classroom today for our silent reading time. It was a great way to start our week!
Be sure to ask your child about the awesome workshop we participated in this morning with the Flynn Theatre! The kids did a wonderful job acting out parts of Horton Hears a Who. On Wednesday, we will leave school before lunchtime. Therefore, students need to bring a bagged lunch from home or can order a bagged lunch from school. Please let your child know if they will be bringing a lunch or ordering one ASAP so that I can let the kitchen know. Have a wonderful day!

The next week and a half will be full of fun with Dr. Seuss! Tomorrow we start our author study and will be reading many Dr. Seuss books in class. Students will have the opportunity to compare and contrast the stories main themes, settings and characters. They will also be able to share their thinking, make connections and even create their own characters! On Monday, we will have a special workshop in our classroom with a visit from the Flynn theater and on Wednesday, the entire third grade will visit the Flynn to watch Seussical the musical. If you have any Dr. Seuss books that you would like to lend to the class, please write your name in them and drop them off in room 193. Many of you have already shared favorite books with us and I thank you for that. I would also like to invite any family members into the room to read a favorite book aloud to the class . If this interests you, please send me an email or call to set up a time. If you would like to participate, but are unable to visit the class, Please send a note and tell us all about your favorite Seuss stories . It should be a wonderful week!
Tomorrow is a special day in Room 193! We met another goal and will celebrate by coming to school dressed as our favorite book/comic book character. I have asked students to bring the book to school if they have a copy of it at home. If they do not have it, they can look in the class or school library. It should be a really fun day. Nice job Lightning Monsters!
